Alabama Cannabis History The use of cannabis has been prohibited in Alabama since 1931, and the state’s medical marijuana program is currently limited to CBD products. However, as of February 2, 2021, Sen. Tim Melson’s Compassion Act — SB46 was approved by the Alabama Senate.
