Indiana Cannabis History Medical and recreational cannabis use are currently illegal in Indiana, and the state has no provision for medical use. Hemp-derived CBD oil with less than 0.3% THC is the only form of cannabis that is currently permitted. In 2017, HB 1148 legalized the use of CBD oil containing less than 0.3% THC for patients with uncontrollable seizures whose symptoms were resistant to traditional treatments. Hawaii Cannabis History Medical use of cannabis was legalized in Hawaii in 2000, when Act 228 (SB862 HD1) was signed into law. The law allowed for the acquisition, possession, and use of marijuana for medical purposes, but did not establish a dispensary system.
